A New Material in a Classic Design
Ceramic, a material known for its durability and lightweight properties, is a new addition to the Piaget Polo family. While ceramic is not uncommon in luxury watches, its integration into the Polo Skeleton is particularly noteworthy. Piaget has taken three years to perfect the process, ensuring that the material not only meets the aesthetic standards of the brand but also aligns with its technical requirements. The result is a watch that feels both modern and distinctly Piaget, with the ceramic adding a subtle yet impactful new dimension to the Polo Skeleton’s design.
The watch’s case is remarkably thin, measuring just 7.5mm. This is a notable achievement, especially given the challenges of working with ceramic, which can be difficult to shape and finish to the exacting standards of luxury watchmaking. To achieve this, Piaget developed a titanium container treated with black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) that securely houses the ceramic components. This innovative construction method ensures the watch is not only visually cohesive but also robust enough for everyday wear.
